With a background in maternal and neonatal nursing, Mary-Lynne brings an abundance of experience, professionalism and a nurturing presence to the families she supports. 

 

After a challenging birth and postpartum experience with her first child, Mary-Lynne recognized the need for compassionate, skilled and evidence-based support for new families and felt compelled to support others to have a more positive and empowering postpartum experience. In 2016, Mary-Lynne completed her DONA International postpartum doula training and, after several years working as an RN, made the decision in 2019 to step away from her nursing career and jump wholeheartedly into her work as a doula supporting families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Mary-Lynne went on to become a Certified Postpartum Doula, a certifying birth doula, a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and a Certified Birth & Bereavement Doula. She is a member of the Calgary Doula Association and a volunteer with the Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Centre in Calgary. With a passion for lifelong learning, Mary-Lynne next plans to pursue her certification as a Lactation Counselor. 

 

Mary-Lynne’s focus as a doula and childbirth educator is on meeting families where they are, attuning to their unique needs and providing personalized support so they feel confident and prepared as they get ready to welcome their baby home. She believes in “your birth, your way” and supports her clients in understanding what that looks like to them and how they can achieve it. With a good sense of humour and easy-going demeanour, Mary-Lynne quickly helps the families she works with feel comfortable and confident in her support.

Originally from Nova Scotia, Mary-Lynne is raising her two kids, Emmett and Evelyne, with her loving husband in beautiful Cochrane, Alberta. When she isn’t working with expectant and new parents, she can usually (make that always!) be found with a coffee in hand. She loves the beach, music and spending time with her family.
